The day started promising with blue sky and sunshine but the cloud gradually built during the morning with a few spots of rain towards the end of the walk from Pit Lane in Shipley through Shipley Park taking in Derby Lodge, the Visitor Centre (coffee stop), Osbornes Pond and the edge of the new housing development at the American Adventure site. A good turnout of 24 walkers for the walk led by Alan B with post walk refreshments at the nearby garden centre joined by non walking members.
We are a local group of The Ramblers,
based in south-east Derbyshire, established in 1981. We organise group walks in the
local area and beyond, lead by experienced walk leaders. We are a friendly bunch of like minded
people who enjoy the many benefits of walking in the open air. Our Footpath Secretary and Wardens work diligently to monitor and do minor cutting back on footpaths to help maintain Rights of Way in the Erewash area.
