Today's walk - cloudy, chilly, blustery wind. Sun glimpsed only once, but thankfully no rain! 13 walkers, including Brian S on his first walk with us (having absconded from the U3A walking group), set off from Swarkestone Garden Centre for a 4 mile hike along the Trent & Mersey Canal, then back across fields towards the village and along the Trent riverbank. We are a local group of The Ramblers,
based in south-east Derbyshire, established in 1981. We organise group walks in the
local area and beyond, lead by experienced walk leaders. We are a friendly bunch of like minded
people who enjoy the many benefits of walking in the open air. Our Footpath Secretary and Wardens work diligently to monitor and do minor cutting back on footpaths to help maintain Rights of Way in the Erewash area.
