Erewash Canal and Shipley -
Because our websmaster hasn’t been on too many walks lately, there haven’t been any

These photos have been sent in by Sandra Davison, following one of our local walks
So, a Monday walk starting at Cotmanhay, taking in parts of the Erewash Canal, and then heading up into Shipley Park.

One of the many bridges along the Erewash Canal, almost all of them (including this one) dating back to when the canal was first cut in the 1770s.
Leaving the canal at the Shipley Boat Inn (or MFN as it is now called), a spot of mud had to be traversed!
Well, that’s autumn rambling for you! It doesn’t take too long (for those who bother) to clean your boots after a walk.
The groups studying the recently replaced information panels at the site of Shipley Hall. Well worth a visit if you don’t know it.
And behind them, the former water tower, now residential accommodation.
